Dr. Martin Seybold, LL.M. Eur., German Lawyer
Born: 1971
1991: High school diploma (Abitur) in Münsingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
1993 - 1999: Law studies at the Christian Albrecht University in Kiel, at the Université Robert Schuman in Strasbourg and at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich
1999 - 2001: Legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich, Bavaria, Germany
2003: Master's degree in European and International Business Law (LL.M. Eur.)
2004: Doctorate in political science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich
Since 2002: Admitted to the German bar
Beginning of 2002, Dr. Seybold began his professional career as research assistant at the chair of Prof. Voigt at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Neubiberg / Munich, advising the Federal Ministry of Defence.
From 2003 he worked for 2 years as in-house counsel at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.
In January 2005, Dr. Seybold moved to China and set-up his own law firm in Beijing CBD.
In 2013, he took over the management of the legal department of the Beijing Office of a well-known German legal, tax and business consulting firm. From 2016, he was responsible for its Beijing and Guangzhou Offices as Managing Partner. From 2019, he was also responsible as co-head of the legal department of the Shanghai Office.
Beginning of 2020, Dr. Seybold moved to Vietnam as the assigned future head of the Saigon and Hanoi offices.
In 2021, Dr. Seybold changed to a renowned international law firm with Asian Headquarters in Singapore, heading the Vietnam Branch in Saigon.
Since end of 2022 Dr. Seybold has located to Frankfurt, Germany, where is is currently living and working.
Dr. Seybold speaks fluent Chinese, English and French, and basic Vietnamese.
He can read and translate Chinese contracts, documents and legal texts, and can write in Chinese.
Dr. Seybold's fields of legal expertise and specializations are:
- Advising European companies in all legal matters,
- International and German labor law,
- International and German commercial and corporate law,
- Transactions, share deals, asset deals, cross-border mergers and change of corporate legal form.
- Litigation before German and foreign civil courts, as well as
- International Arbitration proceedings with a focus on China and the ASEAN region.
From 2018 -2021 Dr. Seybold was officially appointed as Arbitrator at the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA).
